Build Report - Roy P.
Well the SARA Crayon is done!
Here is last weeks list of things to get done:
1) Sand and paint the fins
Done - the fins have been painted to match the light green "wrapper" of the crayon.
2) Install the upper rail button
Done - the backer has been sanded to eliminate snag points and installed and then 30 minute epoxy was poured in and soothed over the backer board.
3) Screw the nose cone to the upper air frame
Done - we even added about 20 ounces of nose weight for CG / CP Relationship.
4) Balance the rocket to determine the final CG/CP Relationship
5) Get Final Weight
Done - Both 4 & 5: The final weight of the rocket with out recovery and motor came in at about 71 pounds.
On the pad I am figuring it will be less then 85 pounds and it will have about 1.5 calibers of stability.
We have also made a stand for the rocket, this way when it is set up for the outreach programs and displays there wont be the worry of it falling over and the kids can come up and touch it without parents worrying.
